Herb of the Month with Mo Katz-Christy: Garlic

Main content

Submitted by Anonymous on

Come spend the afternoon getting deeply acquainted with one medicinal plant! This month we'll focus on garlic.

We’ll spend time getting to know this plant through drawing, taste, science, and stories of herbalists’ experience. Bring your journal and leave with an in-depth account of botany, history, clinical use, safety issues, preparation and dosage, and much much more.

This program is part of a monthly series set in various locations throughout Somerville. See Mo's website for future dates and locations! Attend each month to build your materia medica or just once to meet a new plant friend!

About Mo Katz-Christy:

Mo Katz-Christy (they/them) is a queer Ashkenazi Jewish herbalist born and raised in Cambridge, MA on unceded Massachusett land. They approach herbalism by connecting folks to the knowledge they already have about their body and herbs through working with kitchen medicine, ancestral traditions, and mulberries falling on the sidewalk!

Mo graduated from a three-year clinical herbalism program at the Vermont Center for Integrative Herbalism in 2022. They work one-on-one with clients to address the root imbalances that are causing dysregulation and to build long-term healing. You can find out more about their work at mokatzchristy.com.
