SPS Dept of Special Ed Free Screening for 3 and 4 year olds

o WHO? Children who have turned 3 years old by 8/31/2016 who are not attending a Somerville Public School program already.
o COST? There is no cost for this service.
o WHERE?Capuano Early Childhood Center, 150 Glen Street, Somerville, MA 02145
o HOW? Wednesday February 15, 2017, by appointment, 8:30-12:00.
o BY WHO? Staff from the Early Childhood Intervention Program
o WHAT? Students will be screened for readiness skills by a Special Education Teacher and a Speech/Language Therapist.
A School Counselor will discuss the child’s developmental history with the parent.
The student’s vision and hearing will also be checked.
o WHY? To identify children who may have a disability and and be eligible for Special Education services
o IMPORTANT: Please call Monika Khosla, Special Education Paraprofessional at the Edgerly Evaluation Center at 617-625-6600 x6841 or at mkhosla@k12.somerville.ma.us to schedule an appointment.
o Interpreters will be provided. Please let Monika Khosla know if an interpreter is needed for the parent and/or child.
o Results of the screening will be mailed to the parent soon after the screening.
