September is National Preparedness Month! As part of Somerville's Year of the Neighbor initiative, neighbors are invited to learn about responding to everyday emergencies with Somerville Emergency Management.

Until Help Arrives is a FEMA-supported initiative designed to empower everyday people to take lifesaving action in the critical minutes before professional responders arrive. It teaches essential skills that can save lives during emergencies.

What You’ll Learn 

  • How to call 9-1-1 effectively 
  • How to stay safe in dangerous situations 
  • How to stop life-threatening bleeding 
  • How to provide comfort and support
  • How to safely position an injured person
