Join us at 7pm, February 11 on Zoom for a discussion of acclaimed author Pico Iyer's The Art of Stillness: Adventures in Going Nowhere. After years as one of the world's most accomplished travel writers, Iyer began to wonder why so many people are opting for meditation and silent retreats. Why did French molecular biologist Matthieu Ricard abandon his scientific career to become a Tibetan monk? What did Leonard Cohen get out of leaving a life on tour for years of Zen meditation? After visiting places as far apart as Easter Island, Cuba and Nepal, Iyer begins to wonder if staying in one place doesn't just provide a richer life--maybe it's necessary?
