‘24 Hours of Culture' on August 16, Celebrating BIPOC Arts, Community, and Culture
In partnership with Circle Squared, the City is excited to present ‘24 Hours of Culture’, a celebration amplifying the diverse cultural heartbeat of the Somerville and Greater Boston at Union Square Plaza and Stone Park, from 4 to 10 p.m. (Rain date: August 17). 24 Hours of Culture invites residents of all ages to engage with live performances, public art, and hands-on workshops. This event is free to attend and open to all ages.

Save the Date for "P'alante: Stories Moving Somerville Forward"
Please join on Monday, August 4th, 6:00—8:00 PM at the West Branch Library, 40 College Ave, Somerville, MA, 02144for the gallery opening of "P'alante: Stories Moving Somerville Forward" a photo project by Mario Quiroz about immigrant communities of Somerville. Snacks and drinks will be provided, along with a live musical performance by local drum ensemble Grooversity!

Join Somerville’s Yart Sale on Saturday, August 9
Somerville’s porches, driveways, and front yards will transform into mini galleries and pop-up markets as Yart Sale returns on Saturday, August 9, (rain date: August 10) from noon to 6p.m. Find everything from original paintings and photography to handmade goods, band merch, art supplies, tools, vintage clothes, plants, frames, and more. Each purchase supports local artists and makers.

Free Summer Meals Program for Somerville Youth Available NOW!
The ‘Free Summer Meals’ program provides free meals to all Somerville kids and teens age 18 and under from Monday, July 7, through August 22, 2025. Breakfast and lunch foods will be distributed at youth-friendly locations Monday to Friday at locations citywide. No registration or ID are required.

Registration is now open for Summer Playgroups and Parent Support Groups!
The summer session of SFLC playgroups & parent support groups will start officially on July 14th and will run until August 21st! All groups are drop-in this summer (no registration is required), with the exception of the School Readiness Playgroup.

Somer Fest Returns August 2 to Celebrate BIPOC Creativity, Culture & Community
Mayor Katjana Ballantyne and the Somerville Arts Council, in proud partnership with Citixen Joy, invite community members to Somer Fest, a flagship community festival celebrating the talent, culture, and entrepreneurial spirit of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) performers and vendors. Back for the first time since 2022, Somer Fest will take place on Saturday, August 2, at Seven Hills Park, located just behind the Davis Square MBTA station, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. (rain date: Sunday, August 3). This event is free and open to all.

These sessions are available in multiple languages including English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Haitian Creole (Cantonese, Mandarin, and Nepali upon request).
