Get creative at the Somerville Public Library, where everyone is welcome, no matter who you are or where you're from!

Join us out in front of the Central Library (79 Highland Ave) for an afternoon of chalk art to celebrate what makes you feel welcome. Local artists and community members of all ages are encouraged to pick a block of space on our sidewalks and the pathways around the playground and up to the Library's front doors and draw pictures or write messages that share what makes you feel welcome in your community, or send a message of welcome to someone else.

Chalk will be provided but feel free to bring your own if you would like.

If you are a Somerville artist and would like to sign up for a block of space in advance, please contact Kerry: keodonnell@somervillema.gov.

This event is open to all, no registration is necessary.

(In case of rain, the program will be held on Monday, September 19 from 2-5 PM.)

This event is part of Welcoming Week 2022, an initiative from Welcoming America that bring together neighbors of all backgrounds to build strong connections and affirm the importance of welcoming and inclusive places in achieving collective prosperity.
