The Boy and the Wall tells the story of a Palestinian child who is witnessing the construction of wall that separates him from the landscape on the other side. He imagines all the things he can be, and his mother tells him how she will support him realizing his dreams. Written in the style of the Runaway Bunny, this book can help children relate to the dreams of children living through war and military occupation. I will read the book and then lead a discussion with the children and parents about what we know about war (particularly thinking of Gaza, although this book takes place in a refugee camp in the West Bank), and how we can support children's dreams even during a war.
