Money 101 (for teens): How Bank Accounts and Credit Cards Work

Are you getting your first job this summer? Graduating high school? Looking for some financial independence? Don't learn about money the hard way!

If you’ve never had a bank account or credit card, or do but don’t really know how the money systems work yet, this workshop is for you. We’ll keep it simple and practical:

  1. What is a bank account and how (and why) to open one
  2. The difference between debit and credit cards (and when to use each)
  3. How to avoid common mistakes like overdraft fees and spending more than you have

You don’t need any experience or background. Come with questions! This program is intended for youth ages 14-19.

About the presenter: Bronwen is a local, fully Accredited Financial Counselor with over 13 years of experience! Growing up, her family didn't talk openly about money, so she had to learn to manage her finances the hard way. Now, she uses coaching, education, and emotional insight to help her clients reach their financial goals.
