Join us for an all ages performance of Classical Chinese dance at our newly renovated West Branch Atrium! You will have the opportunity to try out some techniques and movements of your own.

Classical Chinese dance is one branch of the arts that uses the body as a performance medium. The original forms of many classical Chinese dance movements were similar to those of martial arts; it was just that they were performed differently and what they required was different.

This performance will be led by Christina of the Ming Hui Academy, who has been awarded the Diamond Award of the New England American Chinese Arts Society Chinese Dance Competition and third place in the Zhejiang Province Young Dancer competition, among others.

Please note that this program will be taking place partially outside, weather permitting. If you wish to participate, wear comfortable and loose fitting clothing.

This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Somerville Public Library.
