This month, the library is pleased to display the artwork of local artist Nancy Hall Brooks in the Gallery @ SPL with her exhibition: Terra Firma. Please join us for a reception celebrating the exhibit.
About the Exhibit:
Brooks layers personal imagery with reflections on global events. Her work addresses politics, history and myth. Terra Firma is an ongoing series of paintings, drawings and prints that respond to the global crisis of human displacement; one wrought by war, poverty and climate change.
About the Artist:
Brooks received artistic training at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and earned an M.F.A. from the University of Arizona in Tucson. She is the recipient of a 2025 Artist Fellowship from the Somerville Arts Council. The artist wishes to thank the Somerville Arts Council (SAC) and the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) for support in presenting this exhibit. Brooks lives and has her studio in Somerville. She is an avid reader and library user.
