This month, the library is pleased to display the artwork of local artist Cameron Lopez in the Gallery @ SPL with his exhibition: The Imagination of Television Parodies and My Time Travel Plans. Please join us for a reception celebrating the exhibit!

About the Artist & Exhibit

Cameron creates illustrative drawings and paintings inspired by 90’s pop culture including TV shows like Powerpuff Girls, Maya the Bee, the Simpsons, and Spongebob. His drawing style is reminiscent of modern illustrators like Tove Jansson, Uijung Kim, and Quentin Blake. He often likes to experiment with his work by manipulating characters into new or alternative scenarios, or by incorporating his own unique characters modeled off his favorite stuffed animals. For this collection of artwork, Cameron has included acrylic paintings, as well as drawings made from colored pencils and crayons. Cameron’s animated art style produces feelings of nostalgia and joy for those that are able to recognize his pop-culture references and feelings of wonderment and inspiration for those unfamiliar. Cameron is proud to create artwork that makes him happy and hopes to bring that same joy to others as well.
